What We Do

Every common format, transferred by hand.

Each tape is captured in real time on professional S-VHS decks with signal stabilization — equipment that corrects the jitter and color errors old tapes accumulate over the years, recovering detail a household VCR simply can't. We watch every transfer as it runs, checking audio, color, and tracking throughout. No batch processing, no shortcuts.

How It Works

Four simple steps. No surprises.

We've made this as easy as possible because we know tapes hold things you can't replace.

01

Drop Off or Pickup

Schedule a time to drop off or pickup your tapes. We'll log everything when it arrives.

02

We Transfer Carefully

Each tape plays back on professional S-VHS equipment with signal stabilization. We check audio, color, and tracking as we go — every tape, no exceptions.

03

You Get Digital Files

Your videos are delivered by download link — private, shareable, and playable on any device. USB drives are available too if you'd prefer a physical copy, and we can burn playable DVD copies on request.

04

We Return Your Originals

Every tape comes back to you in its original case at pickup. Always — no exceptions.

Why Transfer Now

Every year you wait, you lose more of these moments.

Magnetic tape isn't built to last. Heat, humidity, and time slowly pull the picture and sound apart. The good news: tapes that look fine today usually still play fine — but waiting another five years is a real risk.

These tapes hold moments you can't recreate. We'd rather you transfer them somewhere — even somewhere else — than wait too long.

Find Your Format

Not sure what kind of tape you have?

Most people don't know — that's normal. Compare your tape to the formats below. The labels are often unreadable; size and shape are the clearest clues.

VHS tape
VHS
1976–early 2000s
About 7″ × 4″

The big rectangular cassette most families used — if it goes in a top-loading VCR, it's a VHS.

VHS-C tape
VHS-C
Mid 1980s–2000s
About 3.5″ × 2.5″

A smaller, palm-sized version used in early camcorders — often comes with an adapter that lets it play in a VHS deck.

MiniDV tape
MiniDV
Mid 1990s–2010s
About 2.5″ × 2″

A tiny digital cassette, smaller than a deck of cards, used in popular handheld camcorders — common for late-90s and 2000s home movies, including weddings.

Hi8 tape
Hi8 / Digital8
Late 1980s–2000s
About 3.5″ × 2.5″

Sony's small camcorder format, about the size of an audio cassette — the label usually says "Hi8" or "Digital8." Easy to confuse with MiniDV, so bring it in if you're not sure.

Betamax tape
Betamax
1975–early 1990s
About 6″ × 4″

Sony's home video format, slightly smaller than VHS, that lost the format war — still has a devoted following, and we still transfer them carefully.

Still not sure? Text us a photo — we'll tell you what it is.

Common Questions

Everything else you might be wondering.

VHS, VHS-C, MiniDV, Hi8 and Digital8, Betamax, recorded DVDs and DVR discs, 8mm and Super 8 film reels, audio cassettes, and photo prints, slides, and negatives. We can also pull data off floppy disks, old hard drives, and SD cards — just ask. If you're not sure what you have, send us a photo and we'll tell you.
Most orders are done in five business days. Bigger projects can take a little longer; we'll always tell you up front. If you have a deadline (anniversary, birthday, memorial), let us know and we'll do our best to hit it. Rush service is available — just ask.
They come back to you. Always. Tapes are returned in their original cases (or in archival sleeves if the case is broken). You get them back at pickup — every single order.
Standard MP4 files at the best quality your tape supports. We send a private download link when the order is ready — plays on any phone, computer, or TV with no special software. USB drives are available if you'd like a physical copy. We can also do MOV or other formats on request.
Card or cash at pickup. We give you an itemized receipt when your order is ready. We don't charge anything until the work is done and you've had a chance to review it.
We'll inspect every tape when it arrives and let you know before we start. We can often clean and repair minor issues — broken cases, snapped leader tape, sticky reels — at no extra cost. Mold requires specialized treatment and we'll be honest about what's possible. For anything significant, we'll quote it before we touch it.
Yes — we can take on projects of any size, from a handful of tapes to a full family archive. Volume discounts start at 5 tapes and grow from there, with a flat per-tape rate for 25 or more. Request a quote and tell us what you're working with; we'll walk you through timeline and pricing before anything starts.
We capture video on dedicated Super VHS (S-VHS) decks with a Time Base Corrector (TBC). A TBC stabilizes the video signal during playback — correcting the jitter, color banding, and sync errors that aging tapes accumulate over time. It's the same type of equipment professional transfer facilities use, and it makes a real difference on worn or older tapes. For audio we run a clean signal path through a dedicated capture interface.
Always. We don't watch your videos beyond what's needed to check quality. Files are kept on a private server during the project and deleted after delivery (you keep the USB and download link). We never share, post, or use your footage.
Ready When You Are
